NEW SEASON, NEW COMMITTEE
Wholesale changes to the committee have been made (subject to those positions that have been filled not being challenged of course)
| Chairman | Chris Evans |
| Match Secretary | Michael O'Neill |
| Communications & Social | Paul Berryman |
| Treasurer & President | Bob Kennedy |
| Team Resources | position available |
| Club Secretary | Martin Eccles |
We'd like to thank Paul Twitchell for his efforts during his tenure as Chairman and also Bob Kennedy for continuing to look out for the Club in his role as President and PISA delegate, and also for his time cooking, I mean looking after the books as Treasurer.
Chris Evans continues on the committee as top dog, big cheese, numero uno - the Chairman. Michael O'Neill steps into part of Chris's old job as Match Secretary, Martin Eccles takes the other bit of Chris's old job and does the boring League meetings. Martin's gritty Northern no nonsense approach will further strengthen CFC's place within the local FA.
Paul Berryman (that's me, I don't want to have to write this in the 3rd person) I'm going to take on a bit of an old job (Social secretary) and make a few regular fun and fundraising events happen. I'm also filling a new job which is Communications Secretary. What this really means in practice we're all about to find out - certainly it means looking after the website, making communication between club and players slicker and using some of the tools we have available to share things that need sharing a little better.
Team Resources role - this is available and we need one of you to fill it.
What does team resources entail? - think of a job which entails looking after all things football for CFC, managers duties aside, i.e:
Applications for the vacant and highly attractive Team Resources position should be made to chairman@castlemead-fc.co.uk
Questionnaire
All club members need to click through to this questionnaire link and fill it in - it takes about 30 seconds but gives us a better clue of what our resources are for the coming season.
It also has an up to date contact details form on it so we can get info and stuff to you whenever we need to. Cool.
Fixtures/New season rules
Martins first league meeting has yielded a spurt of info which you all need to be aware of, including the September fixture list.

Other issues
1st Aid
We need to know of anyone who is a trained 1st Aider (to any standard).
Also, does anyone else want to become a 1st Aider as the league is considering putting on some courses for anyone interested.
This follows on from a ref dying duing a game 2 years ago in our league when there was no 1st Aider on hand, plus of course in the light of Ben Thatcher's assault on Pedro Mendes (looked no worse than a typical Grovehill Sunday morning to me...)
Jewellery in games
Only wedding rings are allowed to be worn during any game and these must be taped up. No exceptions apparently.
Treatment during a game
Anyone receiving treatment in a game this season must now leave the pitch (a la Premier League/ World Cup etc)
Relegated
We didn't get relegated. Once again so many teams folded in the leagues above and below us we've stayed where we are, albeit in a league where we have so many new teams (mainly from below) that it's almost like being in a new league. The lovely Land Rovers who make us tea before the game and have a pitch smoother than Wembley are rumoured to remain in our league, which is nice.
Summer Training
Nearly over - get your Astro trainers out it's back to Tring Sports centre on Tuesday 5th September
Managerless?
CFC's serving manager Martin Eccles has had enough. Policy for replacement is still up in the air. Alan Curbishley has been on the phone but when we saw that he'd really just parked Charlton into a cycle of relegation and mid-table Premiership mediocrity we thanked him for his time, but told him to think about pursuing a career elsewhere.
Ideas and suggestions for the vacant managers role e-mailed to the same place as the Team Resources job above.
Social events
There is a Charidee event on the 28th October - it's a fancy dress Halloween party, with all profits going to Cancer Research through the race for life charity. A full description of the event can be seen by clicking here.
Castlemead FC pitch
As suggested above, for the time being it's back to Tring for CFC. The new pitch at Castlemead is still a few months away from being satisfactory.
Footballers Wives
Lots of stuff for the ho's in our lives can be accessed by clicking on the Womenzone link in the index.
CFC squad Recruitment Drive
CFC has had a few nibbles from flyers and stuff we've given out, we're still looking for a few more to make sure we start the season with a good number of players in hand.
