And here is another one thats worth looking at.

Reflexology -

Reflexology is a holistic therapy in which the nerve endings primarily in the feet are stimulated by specific massage techniques to effect changes in another part of the body and thereby create health and help overcome disease.

Although there is scriptural evidence to suggest that reflexology was practised as far back as ancient Egypt, the science of reflexology used today was founded by Dr William Fitzgerald, an American ear nose and throat surgeon.

In the 1930's a massage therapist called Eunice Ingham refined Dr Fitzgerald's zones and developed what is now known as 'reflexology'. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrored congestion or tension in a related part of the body. Therefore, treating the areas of the feet could have a relaxing and healing effect on different organs and tissues inside the body.

How Does It Work?

Reflexology is a gentle therapy that relieves tension and clears blockages by stimulating sensory receptors in the nerve fibres of the foot.  It relaxes the body, thereby reducing any constriction of blood vessels and improving circulation, which helps to break up and dissolve crystal deposits caused by an excess of uric acid, which has built up in the body and settled in the feet.

During a Reflexology treatment, endorphins are released into the bloodstream, easing aches and pains, promoting a feeling of deep relaxation and balance in those treated.

Reflexology helps restore and maintain the bodies’ natural equilibrium and encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

What Does It Involve?

The first reflexology treatment lasts approximately 1½ hours as you will be asked detailed questions about your medical history and lifestyle.  You will remain fully clothed apart from your feet, where socks and any footwear are removed.  You will then sit back and relax in a reclining reflexology chair whilst the treatment is carried out on your feet and ankles.

Gentle pressure is applied to each pressure point and, where there are corresponding physical problems, you may experience some slight discomfort and/or the practitioner may feel some blockages in the area. Generally, most clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep.

Some people will experience a dramatic reaction following the first treatment in various forms such as increased bowel movements, cold type symptoms or skin problems. This is a very healthy sign as it shows the treatment has encouraged the release of harmful toxins from the body.

Reflexology cannot be given if the client is in the early stages of pregnancy, has diabetes or a heart problem.

What Is It Good For?

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for a wide range of ailments including, but not limited to:

Overall Reflexology reduces stress and induces deep relaxation, improves circulation, cleanses the body of impurities, revitalizes energy and aids concentration.
